Whether reading it for religious reasons or educational, either ways, the Bible has something so great for modern readers to discover in-between its pages that this should alone fire your horses. And it has not always to do with religion and test curriculum.
I will list some reasons for you that make Bible reading so very interesting:
It is one of the oldest pieces of literature, hiding in its text, valuable direct information about lives and culture, the traces of which can still be found in tourism and history. It is like a History museum of words! If you like visiting museums, you should have no problem reading Bible.
It has stories in it that can either repel one or inspire depending on one’s outlook. Some of its stories don’t make sense; but making sense out of many nonsense things is currently the biggest science in modern times. Forget its value, the stories themselves are very interesting. If you like reading stories, you should have no problem reading Bible.
People say there is a hidden code in Bible (Only Torah). You search for equidistance words and you arrive at a word that answers questions or prophesies future. If you like mystery, suspense, thriller, Dan Brown’s etc you might want to try it.
It is one single book that has inspired the maximum people in the world. If I were you, I would want to know what is in it that affects people so strongly.
It contains story of creation of Earth and interaction of God with Earth people. Now we all know that Earth wasn’t created that way, but hell, it is interesting to know the account and to trace its evidence in modern times. Many stories of the Bible have been proven, many are still under scrutiny. The point is, whether proven or otherwise it is still a matter of hot debate and utterly interesting.
I haven’t read the Bible myself. I am not religious but always wanted to read it for the sake of discovering its richness of ancient historical account and how it can be proven or disproven. Sadly I never found the time to read it so it continues to sit on my wish list.
But that's just my opinion. Thanks for reading.
